FAU Bonfire Fest
FAU biggest event of the year celebrates first home football game
After over a year of having no live music due to the Covid-19 pandemic I finally returned to my first concert event with a few of my good friends, and boy it did not disappoint! Every year Florida Atlantic University holds a concert called Bonfire Fest, free to students, that celebrates the first home football game of the season. From the front row the energy could not have been more electric, everyone excited to be back at school and even more excited to be at a live concert. The ear piercing screams from the crowd (including myself) could not be missed as former Disney Channel heart-throb Jesse McCartney took the stage playing his biggest hits from 2004 including She’s No You and crowd favorite Beautiful Soul. Oh to be a kid watching Disney Channel again.
Next up on stage with his diamond studded, glowing microphone, is one of the biggest names in rap music. Flo Rida. In the heat of the night Flo sprayed the crowd of concert-goers with bottles of water, constantly got the crowd hyped up and jumping. He pulled students out of the crowd left and right to join him on stage for his most iconic songs Low and It’s Going Down For Real, giving students the opportunity of a lifetime. The opportunity to say “I danced on stage with Flo Rida.”
I also may or may not have lost hearing for a temporary 48 hours after being blasted by the speakers front row. The sign of a great concert. I would live this night over again just to experience the pure joy of attending a concert again after nearly 2 years of isolation from the pandemic. If you can do it safely, I highly recommend returning to live music events.
XOXO,
Rachel
