Alessia Cara In The Meantime Album Review

Listening to the new album as I write this review.
I’ve always been a very low-key big fan of Alessia Cara’s music, her voice is so unique and her style of music is also so different from anything I’ve heard before. I have had the pleasure of meeting her back in 2014 and seeing her on tour with Shawn Mendes in 2019. She is just as good live as she is recorded, which personally is always something I pay attention to at live shows. I love that as Alessia grows within herself, her music reflects the time periods in her life she expresses just how it feels to be a woman in her mid 20’s. She expresses this beautifully in her song “Best Days”. So far I am loving that with this album is that she has 18 songs on the track-list which is a lot of songs for most artists, usually the most I see is about 15. I appreciate she wants to give her fans more after waiting for a while since her last album. Every song so far is a different style yet still cohesive with her overall sound. She is almost more of an R&B artist than she is a pop artist which I still enjoy. Her song “Lie To Me” is so fun, makes me want to dance around my kitchen or my bedroom. I can just imagine the vibe of being in a small venue with her singing this on stage and the whole crowd just having a blast dancing around; definitely my top favorite off this album so far. I already want to listen to it again. Also I noticed she only has one feature on this album, I like that Alessia Cara tends to make her albums just her own sound, collaborations are always cool but artists who take time to perfect their craft and release albums of all original sound is super impressive to me.
Honestly wasn’t expecting to write this much in this review but Alessia Cara has me really impressed with “In the Meantime.” I’m feeling all the vibes with this one. Overall I would say this album is definitely a 10/10, I see myself being gravitated towards listening to this a lot. Im excited Alessia is back, she is definitely underrated for her level of talent.
