Miley Cyrus ‘Flowers’ Single Review

It all started on December 19, 2022, with the cryptic post “New Year, New Miley”, Cyrus made it known she was on her way to a big return. ‘Flowers’ is the first leading single from her upcoming album ‘Endless Summer Vacation’. From the beginning of the song you can tell this is a poignant reference of her broken marriage with actor Liam Hemsworth. However, this is not an anthem of heartbreak or revenge, Miley shows empowerment in being by herself, forgiving her partner and moving past sadness.

Some of the lyrics read:

“Started to cry, but then remembered I
I can buy myself flowers
Write my name in the sand
Talk to myself for hours
Say things you don't understand
I can take myself dancing
And I can hold my own hand
Yeah, I can love me better than you can”

With her soulful, country twang tone, she still mastered the vibe of a 90’s disco; somewhat similar to bands like Abba. This song has already been one of the biggest hits of 2023 with 7.71 million streams and charting as #3 on the Spotify Chart;. this marked her biggest debut ever! The music video, within 24 hours of it’s release, racked up over 13.8 million views. Some would even say she came in like a wrecking ball! From the early years of her career, Miley has been an artist who stands out for being creative and different and I know this upcoming album will be just that, a creative and different work of art!

If you haven’t already had a chance to listen, I highly recommend doing so! Flowers is already on repeat!

-XOXO Rachel
