Mimi Webb ‘Amelia’ Album Review
British singer-songwriter and rising star, Mimi Webb, quickly gained popularity with her many videos on TikTok singing from her car, which led to her getting a record deal with Epic Records. Named after herself, Amelia is her first full-length studio album. Leading up to the release of the album Mimi dropped small tastes of her sound with the singles "House on Fire", "Ghost of You", "Red Flags” and “Freezing.”
‘Amelia’ was met with positive reviews from critics, who praised Mimi Webb's powerful vocals, and her honest/relatable songwriting. It debuted at number two on the UK Albums Chart, selling 35,000 copies in its first week. It also debuted at number 10 on the US Billboard 200 chart, selling 25,000 copies in week one as well.
’Amelia’ features 12 songs, a mix of pop, R&B, and soul influences. Each song deals with a variety of topics, including love, heartbreak, and self-discovery. Similarly to Hannah Montana and Miley Cyrus, Mimi Webb is living the best of both worlds. She lives one life as pop star Mimi Webb but has shared that those who love her most know her as Amelia. The record is a reflection of her own personal journey within both ways of life, from being a young Canterbury-born girl growing up in the UK to a virtual quick rise to the spotlight.
With the final title track on the record she pens a letter to her younger self and her generally younger Gen-Z audience, saying "Everything is going to be just fine." She hopes it will resonate with not only her fans but listeners of all ages.
