Coldplay Music Of The Spheres Album Review
Celebrating their 25th anniversary as a band this year. Coldplay have just released their ninth studio album, “Music of the Spheres.” I have to start by mentioning all of the quirky title names for the songs on this album, some being actual words and some song titles are represented by emoji symbols. Music of the spheres has 3 songs featuring other artists, including BTS, Selena Gomez, Jacob Collier and We Are KING. One thing I do think Coldplay is very good at doing is staying relevant by collaborating with young artists such as Selena Gomez and staying up to date with their eclectic electronic music sound, however I do think it is very much catered to being radio hits rather than sounding distinctive. I miss the days of Coldplay piano ballads though I know nothing will ever compare to Yellow or Viva la Vida.
None the less even not being the biggest fan of electronic style music, I do enjoy “Music of the Spheres.” With all of the upbeat party songs it does bring a sense of fun and lightheartedness to all of their dedicated fans. After nearly two years of uncertainty during this pandemic Coldplay brought back the feeling of excitement. Something that added to the hype of this album was the collaboration between Coldplay and up & coming Korean boyband BTS. Already racking over 100 millions streams just on Spotify alone. The two groups not only have created a massively successful hit together, but they also represent multicultural art. Sharing the culture of South Korea and the British.
Overall after thoroughly listening through “Music of the Spheres” I would give this album a rating of 6/10. It is not a genre of music that I would find myself gravitated towards listening to often.
